I am amazed and baffled by the biblical narratives concerning miraculous manifestations. Three definitions of a miracle are as follows: 1. A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. 2. An extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. 3. A work exceeding the power of the creature; consequently, an effort of divine omniscience and omnipotence (Robert Smith).
